Autism Spectrum Disorder “on the court” -- not your typical class
Tennis is the avenue used to develop normal “Hemispheric Functions” (left brain, right brain) The goal of each class is to use “spatial summation” (do a lot of things at the same time) to promote a “re-connect” in areas of the brain that are under-functioning. In most on-court activities, the class agenda will address the “the midline” drills that cross an imaginary line from left to right, children on the spectrum are underdeveloped in this area. Fun, Smiles and Lots of Love are the core of the on-court training. The teacher is learning as much, if not more than the student at any given time. Matilda Blue uses kid-sized QuickStart approved equipment. Each court item is given a unique name
